Even though it isn’t as common an issue as it once was, it never seems to fail that somehow my wallet and purse load up with loose change. I’m finding loose change in the washer and dryer after each cycle, and the drink holders in all of our vehicles are loaded down with coins. What should we do about this “problem”? I’ll tell you my friends…
Grab a jar.
And load that jar up with all said coins. And just continue until your jar is full and then take it in to be cashed at a bank, or using one of those Coin Star machines at the store. You will be amazed at how much you can save up in a year’s time. Wesley and I did this for the last 3 years that we dated. We compiled all our change into 1 jar, and when the jar was full, we moved the coins to a shoe box and continued on. We began to call this jar our “Honeymoon Fund” and we planned on putting however much we saved towards our eventual honeymoon.
When the time came, we cashed in the coins, and though it wasn’t enough to pay for the entire honeymoon, it was enough to pay for one round trip ticket to Jamaica. We were pretty excited.
Since being married, we have started a “Honeymoon II Jar”. Hopefully sooner rather than later, when we are able to relive our honeymoon, we will have that pleasant stockpile of coins to help take a little of the financial load off our shoulders.
This is an easy way to get a little more “organized” in your purse, car, or home, and a great way to save up some money. 🙂 And let’s be real… if I didn’t have this system in place, those coins would still be in the way, not being used. 😉
