One thing I remember growing up is how much fun holidays were. My parents would decorate the entire house and create fun foods that went along with the holiday. From Thanksgiving, to St. Valentine’s Day, to St. Patrick’s day, we always had something going on in the house. I am looking forward to creating the same memories with my family, as William grows up. With Halloween approaching, I have been brainstorming some fun Halloween treats that can be thrown together easily.
– Chocolate Spiders
I can remember Mom making these and my brother and I would go crazy over them!! They are so simple too. She’d melt some chocolate chips in a double boiler and then crush up some chow mein noodles. She’d mix the crushed noodles and chocolate together and form little balls with them. Then she’d take whole chow mein noodles and put 4 on each side to create little spiders. The sweet and salty combo of these guys make them hard to put down.
– Ghost Pancakes
Pancake batter is so easy to use to create different shapes. Take some batter and make a ghost in the pan. Use mini chocolate chips to create eyes. This would make an easy Halloween morning breakfast!
– Mummies in a Blanket
Get some crescent rolls and cut them into thin strips. Wrap the thin strips around hot dogs (leaving some space between the wraps and space for the “face”). Then bake them in the oven according to the crescent roll packaging. What an easy supper to throw in the oven before Trick-or-Treating!
A few “healthier” options can be found below…
1. Take a banana, peel it, and then place chocolate chips near the top for 2 eyes. A healthy ghost! 🙂
2. Peel an orange and place a small piece of celery in the top…. pumpkin!
3. Slice some apples, smear peanut butter on one slice, put another slice on top, and then put raisins in the peanut butter. It is a monster’s mouth!
