Just a few short days ago (really like….one day….) I was singing praises of my sweet baby boy for rolling over from back to stomach at three months.
‘Oh look at my baby genius!’ I mean- no baby had ever rolled over like my baby. Soo graceful. Look at that excellent control; and that head support?? Amazing! I was ready to call Harvard to inform them that their next prodigy was alive and well.
Enter Day 2 of the rolling over phase. William has now perfected his new found skill. Every. Single. Time. we put him on his back he rolls over. Diaper changes? BAM. Rolling over. ‘Back Is Best’ in the crib? BAM! Rolling over. It is an automatic reaction now.
So here is what is frustrating: Baby Boy can’t roll from stomach to his back. And the problem with that lies in the fact that at night either he cries when he’s on his stomach or he settles in to sleep on his stomach…AND this momma is
nervous terrified of him sleeping on his stomach.
Last night I was literally in and out of sleep all night long either due to William’s crying because he was on his stomach and I’d have to flip him over, or I’d notice on the monitor that W was asleep on his stomach…..and I’d have to flip him over. William:1 Parents:0.
I know it is said to be safe once a baby can place themselves on their stomachs, but I think three months old is a litttttle young for that position. Later on today I will be placing a call in to his pediatrician’s office just to get their opinion.
So here’s my plea, experienced mommas!!! How did you
handle survive this phase? Any tricks or tips would be appreciated!
