Well, it has finally happened. William is 3 months old and TODAY he learned how to roll over from his back to his stomach. I am excited for this big milestone- however, there is a downfall. Amiright? Bye-bye swaddle. Which also sounds just like bye-bye sleep to my ears.
The little guy has been swaddled since day 1. It was his guarantee to a good nap and a long restful night. So we’re back to square one.
I’ve done a lot of reading on transitioning from the swaddle- but we have no transition time. We gotta change up our game plan stat. I’ve heard a lot about the sleep halo- where you can swaddle with the arms out. I almost bought one. But then, I had the brilliant idea of just using our plain old swaddle from the armpits down. YEAH!
No need to go out and buy another piece of baby “equipment” that costs a little too much, in my opinion. Just use what we’ve been using. W has had one nap so far today with this new swaddle technique and he slept like he always does. I’m hoping this will continue into the night.
Eventually, we will pull the swaddle off all together, but for now, our baby boy still needs that tight feeling to help him doze off.
What have you tried to help your little one sleep without the traditional swaddle? Comment below, I’d love to read about your experiences.
