MY TOP MONEY SAVING APPS
I have become slightly obsessed with my money saving apps. I’ll sit in my car for 10 minutes once I have pulled up to the grocery store in order to check my apps and select any items I plan on buying. Some are for in-store purchases and others I use online. One app is strictly for receipts.
As much as I love these apps, I have to be careful not to get caught in the “App Trap”. This is where I start to buy things simply because there are offers on them and I can get money back. This makes NO sense…I end up not saving any money at all- in fact I spend more. To help me with this, I make a list and I stick to what is on the list. I only look for offers that match items I already have written down. No impulse buys- no impulse offers.
Another “App Trap” is that there may be money off for a specific brand, but in the store, another brand may be cheaper all together. Don’t get sucked in and buy the more expensive brand (unless you want to of course….). Remember… these Apps are meant to give you money back. In a case like this, it will actually make you spend more.
Okay- so what are my favorite Apps?! You ready??? Alright. This may be a little lengthy- but stick with me! Here we go….wait…before I do this- none of these companies have asked me to write this post. I am doing it simply because I love the apps & want to share the wealth. I will write out a few of my referral codes. If you decide to use them, I will get some credits. I will talk about these as we get to them.
This app is pretty cool in the fact that each week it lets you choose your own offer for .25 cents off. These are normally healthy choices of food- this week I can choose between grapes, garlic, potatoes, carrots, or pineapple. Since we normally buy grapes, this is what I would choose.
It then lists other offers you can buy. Anything from toothpaste to diapers to other food products. Alcohol is even included. Yes- you can get some money back on your beverage of choice…as long as it is listed.
Some of the offers with Checkout 51 are store specific- some offers are only good at Walmart, others can be used anywhere. So you do need to be careful when you’re scanning through the items.
Once you have finished shopping, you make sure all the offers you want to redeem are checked and then you take a picture of your receipt. The money will be added to your account within the week (normally much quicker). So easy!
Once you reach $20, Checkout 51 will mail you a check.
I LOVE this app. When grocery shopping, this is where I can redeem the most offers and get the most money back. First cool thing about it is that it can be used for MANY stores-not just the grocery store. Famous Footwear, Groupon, H&M, World Market…tons of places. Cool beans!
The App is broken down into different categories. Choose the one you want and then select the store where you will be shopping. For some of the stores you can enter in your rewards card (like the MVP card for Food Lion) and when you checkout, it will automatically scan in the products you buy. Other stores will need you to scan the products bar-code and then take a picture of the receipt.
Second cool thing about this App is you can work in a TEAM. The more people you have on your team, the more rewards you can unlock…AKA the more money you get back.
If you haven’t downloaded Ibotta and would like to join my team, click this link on your smartphone: Click here to download Ibotta You will get $10 back with your first purchase using this code (I will also get $5.00 back when you do so.).
Once you reach $20, you can choose to have Ibotta send you $20 to PayPal, Venmo or buy a gift card.
This app doesn’t offer the variety of savings that Ibotta and Checkout 51 do, but you can still find some good deals on there. Every week they have a “healthy offer” where they will give you a percentage back.
Like Ibotta, you can link up your store’s savings card and it will automatically scan in any offers selected and purchased. You can also submit receipts.
Once you reach $5.00, SavingStar will allow you to cash out to a bank account, PayPal account, or certain gift cards (Starbucks, AMC Theatres, iTunes).
Before shopping, I suggest checking all 3 apps- sometimes you can get offers for the same product on all 3 apps… SCORE!!!!
Y’all… you can save some serious buckaroos with this app! I’ve only had it for about a week and have already accrued $19. This app can literally be used anywhere! You can use it instore or online. You will get a certain percentage back from your purchases.
If you haven’t downloaded it already, click on my referral link: Click here to download Ebates. You will get $10 after you’ve used your first rebate costing $25, just for signing up. (I will receive $25.)
My last favorite app is simple to use and requires no work ahead of time. ReceiptPal has you take a picture of any receipt you have (besides bills). Once you have collected 4 receipts, you earn 100 points. You can save points up and redeem them for certain prizes- $1.00 gift cards all the way up to
$100 gift cards. ReceiptPal has updated their prizes. The highestgift card offered is $50.00. But hey- that’s still FREE money!
So once you’ve used the first 3 apps to get money back on your purchases, take a picture of that receipt and upload it to ReceiptPal! You can even link your email address and use receipts from online shopping!
I hope you stuck with me to the end! Download these apps. You’re silly not to- they will help you save on regular every day purchases.
